A contrastingly high turn-out from last year. However, despite the 2 rounds shot (making a total possible 100 points), it seems that too many people – me included – were relying on the ETR equipment to give us an accurate zeroing opportunity !! Better prepared next year I think (and less wind) as obviously ‘practice makes perfect’ at the top.

A very poor turnout for 2007. Given the calls for more rifle dates, where were all the shooters ? Also, a costly day for the club – the range bills still have to be paid !!.

Congratulations to Mike Phillips on his cleaning of the McQueens this year and I have to say that it was a very tight group though not as tight as Paul Finch’s which measured about an inch and a half, unfortunately mostly in the 4. The wind played a part this year being gusty and at 45deg which was a slight advantage for larger calibres (Mike Phillips shot .243, Paul Finch .308) in their overall group size. Note the excellent performances from Ashley and Phil who borrowed Nigel’s and Bicky’s guns, respectively. Using someone else’s gun in a quick fire comp doubtless caused the missed rounds. Get your own guns for next year guys! For myself I can’t blame the wind and have put it down to completely forgetting about the comp and driving there still eating breakfast, bit of a panic! No, that wasn’t it – I shot crap – it’s always the mutt behind the butt. (Bicky)
