CLUB COMPETITIONS
The club hosts and runs a number of competitions throughout the year, in a wide range of disciplines. ‘Closed’ events, used to determine the Club Championships, are usually limited to FDPC members, although invited FAC holders may sometimes compete, but are excluded from the prizes. ‘Open’ competitions are just that – open to all club members, and other FAC holders. These tend to be the larger national events, such as the 3-Gun, the Western Winner 1500, and other events that we run from time to time.
Each of the Club Championships events are matches in there own right, with prizes, and (if there are enough entries) in more that one division. There are also a number of club trophies, either associated to a single match, or awarded to an aggregate of two or more matches. The Hendy Aggregate, previously awarded to the overall cartridge pistol champion is now an aggregate event for carbine matches. Of the 5 events nominated below, the scores (as a percentage of the winners) are added together to give an overall percentage. Competitors can drop 1 round, leaving the best 4 out of 5 rounds to count.
Below is list of current competitions. As disciplines develop, and the popularity of events wax and wane, some matches may change. However, in most cases, we try to shoot events that reflect the popular national trends and use, wherever possible, the national rules, regulations, and courses of fire. With the demise of cartridge pistols, some of the competition names have changed, although the old names are shown bracketed, where relevant.

Trophies are awarded annually, assuming the relevant competitions have been run during the year. In some cases, (Open comps), the trophies are awarded to the highest placed FDPC member, although overall winners compete for a number of significant prizes as well.
There are a couple of trophies awarded annually by the committee :
The Whitlock Shield – To the member or members who, ‘maintain the clubs aims and principles, by way of effort’.
The Junior Cup - To the junior member who has demonstrated achievement, by way of competition.
The Novice Cup - To the Novice (new to shooting) member who has demonstrated achievement, by way of competition.
