Results of
the 3-Gun Match, at Shield. 9th
to 11th July, 2004.
This match has now
become a firm fixture on Action Shooting’s calendar – the biggest of it’s type
outside of Bisley and attracting the cream of the Action Shooting experts from
across the UK.
This year, 63
shooters took part in 172 man-matches, and shot the best part of 16,000 rounds
of ammo over the 3 days. With 12 challenging stages to tackle (4 for each gun
type), this was a full days shooting, with a variety of field, speed, steel and
standard exercise to overcome. This was a true test of durability, reliability
and consistency across the match, and this years course of fire was both fun,
and a challenge, thanks to the efforts of the course designers.
As in the past few
years (until FDPC establishes a new permanent range again), the match was
hosted by Shield – the home of practical shooting in the South – and we’re indebted
to Steve and Biddy for their support, both during the event, and at the prize
table.
One feature of
Frome matches is the rain. We escaped it last year, but it seems that it saved
up a double dose for this years event. At least it had the decency to wait
until 4.00pm every day, before it gave the shooters a good soaking, to cool
them down a bit.
Our thanks again
to all those who helped design, construct and run the match; to our sponsors
(listed below), and to Shield.
The overall
results are linked below – as I construct the match breakdown and photos, I’ll
include the relevant links.
